Yohji Yamamoto, born in Tokyo in 1943, is a pioneering Japanese fashion designer renowned for his avant-garde style and mastery of draping. Debuted his first two collection under the label Y’s in 1981 at Paris; and jn 1982 ar New York. He was presenting designs that focused on deconstructed, oversized silhouettes and monochrome palettes, challenging traditional notions of beauty and gender in fashion. In 1986, he founded Y’SACCS, a label combining “Y’s” with “Accessories,” featuring the first Japanese bags to blend nylon and leather. Today, Y’SACCS remains celebrated for its simple, elegant designs with playful, distinctive details.
