Drawing inspiration from digital realms and video game aesthetics, Undercover’s Spring/Summer 2021 collection presented a lineup of 3D-rendered models clad in virtual garments, evoking the imagery of Rockstar Games’ territories or seamlessly fitting into the world of Grand Theft Auto. Following the transformative impact of the pandemic, Takahashi found himself with ample time, resulting in a swift turnaround for the design process of this collection by April. Unlike previous collections, which were typically conceived and executed within Undercover’s headquarters, this marked Takahashi’s inaugural endeavor created outside the brand’s usual setting. Entitled ‘2020’, the collection delves into bold, monochromatic patterns and explores diverse textures. A standout feature of this collection is the utilization of 3D modeling to present all designs digitally, making them accessible to a global audience. The particular sweater embodies Jun Takahashi’s eternal obsession of punk/rock and its aesthetic. Resembling Vivienne Westwood’s Seditionaries iconic bondage muslin top, this piece is crafted entirely from high-gauge black wool, feature an oversized sleeves with adjustable metal hooks and comfortable loose fit.
