Shinichiro Arakawa is a prominent Japanese fashion designer who emerged in the late 1990s. After completing his art studies, he moved to Paris to study fashion styling. During this period, Arakawa interned for the renowned Christopher Nemeth, a mentorship that significantly shaped his design aesthetic. Known for his thematic collections, Arakawa meticulously selects venues that enhance and reinforce the chosen themes, creating immersive fashion experiences. His innovative approach and distinct style have established him as a notable figure in the fashion industry. In 1997, following his period in Paris, the award-winning Japanese fashion designer Shinichiro Arakawa began his first collaboration with Honda, the leading motorcycle manufacturer globally. Over the ensuing 25 years, the Tokyo-based designer has developed numerous clothing and accessory that blends perfectly aesthetic with functionality. Shinichiro always admitted to having motorcycle gears as a prominent inspiration to his work, following the creation of this particular gloves, one of his later work during the collaboration years with Honda, an embodiment of Arakawa’s simplicity approach to design. Constructed from soft calf leather with stand-out red contrast stitching & trimming, reminiscing the design of standard leather motorcycle racing gloves, this is one hell of a piece from Shinichiro Arakawa’s archive.
