Rick Owens, an American-born designer based in Paris, has garnered acclaim for his distinctive fusion of gothic grunge and high fashion. After studying pattern making at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, he established his namesake label in 1994. His designs are characterized by their dark, avant-garde aesthetic and sculptural silhouettes, often utilizing innovative drapery and unconventional materials. In his Spring/Summer 2023 “EDFU” collection, Rick Owens drew inspiration from Egypt’s Temple of Edfu, blending translucent fabrics with structured, god-like silhouettes to evoke a modern deity through fashion. The collection showcased the Geth runner for the first time, they featured sculptures-like oversized sole design, crafted from premium leather and inner velcro that allow them to be worn without laces.
