Rick Owens AW22 “STROBE” Heavy Wool ‘Jumbo Tatlin’ Coat

  Autumn/Winter 2022 “STROBE” collection explored themes of glam, indulgence, and futuristic ritual. Staged at Paris’ Palais de Tokyo, models wore sculptural fluorescent headpieces inspired by ancient Egyptian crowns and Dan Flavin’s light installations. The garments combined exaggerated silhouettes, zip hoods, draped knits, and dramatic outerwear—balancing austerity with sensuality. He described the collection as “glamsleazy light seekers,” capturing a world of dark hedonism. This ‘Jumbo Tatlin’ coat is cut from 100% virgin wool, the coat features sharp, architectural shoulder paneling that references Constructivist forms—specifically Vladimir Tatlin’s unrealized Monument to the Third International.
