Founded in 2005, Raf by Raf Simons (a.k.a RAF) is Raf Simons discontinued sub-label, aiming to serve a youthful, subcultural aesthetic at a lower price point. However, upon release in 2006, the line received mixed reviews, with some fans feeling the quality and design did not fully meet their expectations and Raf by Raf Simons was fully transitioned to RAF SIMONS as we’ve known now in 2010, a more aligned effort with his vision. We can’t talk about Raf without not mentioning his work with Peter de Potter, from pulling references from the cult classic French horror film “Fascination” from 1979, Raf Simons teamed up with Peter De Potter in order to create the well-celebrated Autumn/Winter 2005 “Poltergeist.”Known who was Simons’ longtime collaborator and close friend was in charge of the cultural references and graphic design choices for the capsule, help directing with the illustration process, creative work and more, the duo created a limited line of work, expressionism between modern art and fashion, which now their pieces has only risen in popularity and rarity over the years.
