Number (N)ine Autumn/Winter 2008 “My Own Private Portland” marked a shift from punk angst to introspective Americana, inspired by Gus Van Sant’s haunting film and Portland’s melancholic spirit. Takahiro Miyashita crafted a collection full of flannel, bleached denim, and distressed layers—channeling suburban alienation and quiet rebellion. One of its most iconic accessories is the silver deer necklace, created in collaboration with Magical Design. The piece features an intricately sculpted stag head with sprawling antlers and a heavy braided chain—symbolizing nature’s wild grace and echoing the collection’s moody, poetic core.
