The brand name stems from the Beatles song “Revolution 9”, Number (N)ine founded in 1997 by the infamous Japanese designer, Takahiro Miyashita. He sought to articulate the feeling of sorrow through cult brand Number (N)ine. Americana and grunge inspiration are ubiquitous, and always find their way into the collections, Takahiro took references from the Western aesthetic with its well known artist, prominently known for his inspiration from Kurt Cobain.
