Number (N)ine is a Japanese fashion label founded by Takahiro Miyashita in 1997, known for its fusion of rock ‘n’ roll aesthetics and avant-garde designs. In 2006, it collaborated with Magical Design, a Tokyo-based jewelry label founded by Gabor, a Hungarian craftsman recognized for his intricate, gothic-inspired silverwork. Their collaboration produced bold jewelry pieces with skulls, crosses, and rebellious motifs. The Spring/Summer 2008 “Birds” collection drew inspiration from Hitchcock’s “The Birds,” featuring classic goth motifs, birds feather details and poems that consists of a dark, eerie mood. This collection showcased Takahiro Miyashita’s talent for narrative-driven design and solidified the brand’s status in avant-garde fashion.
