Mihara Yasuhiro is a prominent Japanese fashion designer known for his eponymous label which he established in 1998 with initially started with leather footwear and accessories. His Autumn/Winter 2006 collection is renowned for its innovative fusion of contrasting styles, notably blending Western cowboy aesthetics with traditional Japanese elements. The collection also showcased reconstructed garments, such as jackets with raw edges and quilted linings, reflecting Mihara’s penchant for deconstruction and layering. Originally debuted in the collection, this showcased jacket is probably one of the most recognizable item from Mihara’s archives. A deconstructed take on the classic Type II denim jacket, it features exposed weft threads that have been deliberately distressed and elongated, cascading down the front and sleeves like unraveling fabric, revealing the indigo denim underneath , emphasizing transparency and decay, comes with oxidized copper buttons engraved with sunburst motifs give the piece a militaristic relic feel.
