Mihara Yasuhiro is a renowned Japanese fashion designer best known for his intriguing footwear designs. He established his mark on the Tokyo fashion scene following his graduation from Tama Art University (fun fact: Issey Miyake is also a notable alumnus) in 1997. In 1998, he opened his first boutique in the heart of the Aoyama district, called “SOSU Mihara Yasuhiro.” Mihara Yasuhiro solidified his reputation as a significant designer after his partnership with PUMA, which debuted in 2000 and became a groundbreaking collaboration in the early 21st century. For the Autumn/Winter 2009 collection titled “Left and Right,” the Japanese designer sought to express a sense of journey and transformation, with inspiration linked to the Silk Road that popularized in the Western and Eastern worlds at the time. The collection features traditional Western footwear interjected with Mihara’s unique Japanese aesthetic. These particular boots were one of the prominent designs not only throughout the collection but also in the brand's discography in general. Reminiscent of an engineer boot silhouette, the boots are constructed from buttery brown cow leather with natural wrinkles and distressing, featuring two extended layers of black suede leather and soft wool. They are accompanied by side pulling straps, side zips for easy access, and a wooden sole.
