MiharaYasuhiro AW05 Layered Stack Denim Jacket
Made in Japan
Mihara Yasuhiro, a graduate of Tama Art University, is a prominent Japanese designer known for his innovative blending of Eastern and Western influences. Born in the 1970s in post-WWII Nagasaki, his background in textile design fueled his passion for unique footwear and abrasive materials. He launched the eponymous brand label in 1997, focusing on innovative fabrics, custom prints, expert tailoring, artisan leather works and unique shoe designs. Mihara Yasuhiro’s Autumn/Winter 2005 debut collection showcased his mastery of “trompe l’oeil,” featuring t-shirts and sweaters with multilayers and varied fabrics that merged the sublime and the ridiculous. Showcasing a beautiful jacket from the collection; as captured on Runway Look 20/34, the jacket is constructed from a soft worn-out cotton, wool lined and featuring “stacked” layering on both sleeves, is considered Mihara Yasuhiro’s adaptation of the “trompe l’oeil”technique, an ode to those that presented it previously like Martin Margiela & Jean-Paul Gaultier..
