Issey Miyake, a Japanese fashion designer, and Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple Inc., shared a unique and inspiring relationship. After becoming friends after the Apple co-founder noticed the uniforms Issey Miyake designed for Sony employees in Japan. Jobs said Sony’s chairman Akio Morita told him the employees felt bonded by wearing the matching clothes, and Jobs brought the idea to Apple. Issey Miyake was asked in the early 1980s to produce black uniform turtlenecks.This is an iconic design inspired by Jobs admiration of Miyake’s innovative approach to fashion, which mirrored his own philosophy of simplicity and functionality for Apple. The idea and history encapsulated into this one piece of cloth, features a vertical stitching that pleated the front, a beautiful mock neck and an oversized fit for tuck in.
