Over his five decade career, Issey Miyake was a true innovator with his signature pleating technique that involved crafting garments from a single thread and adding pleats to the clothes once sewn into shapes. For me, this piece depicts perfectly the innovative technique with Mr. Miyake’s amazing construction that highlights the relationship between human body and cloth, featuring two layers with button-up closer on both shoulders and the dart technique was applied at the start of the sleeves, which created a very unique shape that feels like poking out of your shoulders when wearing.
