Hood By Air SS14 ‘Aphex Twin’ Graphic Long-sleeve

  Hood By Air (HBA) is a fashion label co-founded in 2006 by Shayne Oliver and Raul Lopez. The brand gained prominence for blending streetwear aesthetics with high fashion, drawing inspiration from queer culture, New York nightlife, and the ballroom scene. Shayne Oliver, born in Minnesota in 1988, spent part of his youth in Trinidad before moving to Brooklyn in 2000. He attended both New York University and the Fashion Institute of Technology but left to focus on his fashion endeavors. In the Spring/Summer 2016 collection, Hood By Air showcased experimental designs that challenged traditional fashion norms. This piece from the collection prominently displays a distorted image of Richard D. James, known as Aphex Twin, reflecting the musician’s own penchant for the surreal and abstract.
