COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS AW16 “Armor of Peace” Belted Leather Armoured Panel Shoulder Pads

Founded in 1984, COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS debuted it’s first show at Paris Fashion Week, under the direction of Rei Kawakubo, the label serves as the most second abstract line exists under the “COMME-niverse” and it is Rei’s purest vision of the COMME men’s wardrobe. COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS Autumn/Winter 2016 collection tilted; “Armor Of Peace”, showcased the usual avant-garde designs but with an underlying message of “anger” according to Rei Kawakubo’s, is filled with reimagined armor elements like couters, spaulders, and pauldrons in fabrics to transform jacket and coat sleeves with soft articulated pieces. Mixing various textiles, including jacquards and floral brocades, the designs aimed to appear joyful rather than threatening. Armor components like cuisse and poleyns were reinvented as decorative shoulder pads, pant chaps and knee plates in trousers. As seen on Runway Look 30, the particular piece is crafted from a soft black leather, featuring studded details throughout with “armour” like panels that resemble knight armours from the referenced Renaissance’s era.
