Alice Auaa is a Japanese Gothic Lolita fashion brand founded by designer Yasutaka Funakoshi. It began in 1993 as “Alice in Modern Time” in Kobe, blending punk, new wave, and gothic influences before officially launching as Alice Auaa in 1995. The label, now based in Osaka, is known for theatrical, avant‑gothic collections featuring corsetry, elaborate ruffles, and surreal motifs inspired by themes like bondage and Alice in Wonderland. Funakoshi’s craftsmanship has earned recognition in both underground fashion circles and museum exhibits worldwide, and even Lady Gaga wore the brand during her 2013 Japan visit .
