Founded in 1992 as ‘Bellissima’ by Masahiro Nakagawa and LICA, it transitioned across locations, from Ōsaka to Tokyo, and later settled in Paris. Despite ceasing operations in 2003, 20471120 left a lasting impact with its innovative concepts and distinctive style, blending traditional Japanese craftsmanship with contemporary methods. Now experiencing a resurgence in interest, particularly within the archive community, there’s a growing curiosity to uncover more about the brand and its visionary founder, Masahiro Nakagawa. The character “Hyoma” was first introduced in 1995, featured prominently in apparel and accessories by his brand, 20471120. Renowned for its inventive designs, the label offers both new and recycled garments. Showcasing a black backpack from the label’s Spring/Summer 2000 collection in collaboration with Outdoor Products. Crafted from durable nylon, adorned with Hyoma’s face and logo, it boasts velcro patches, dual YKK zip closures, adjustable shoulder straps, and a front storage pocket. The interior showcases comic panels from “Hyoma Recycle Story,” narrating Hyoma’s mission against wastefulness in Tokyo, aided by the ‘Re-Box’ (Recycled Box) to combat ‘guzzling monsters’.
